The Zhenhai Tower in Fuzhou is located at the top of Pingshan Mountain, Gulou District, Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. It was first built in 1371 (the 4th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty). Originally, it was the model building for the city gate towers of Fuzhou and was later named Zhenhai Tower. It is the tallest building in the ancient city of Fuzhou, the symbol of the due north of the city, and the sign for ships to enter the city at night.
The current Zhenhai Tower has two floors with flying eaves and upturned corners. The existing building is restored according to the pattern of the Ming Dynasty. It has a double-eaved 歇山顶 (Xieshan roof), with Dougong (brackets under the eaves). The roof is made of ceramic tube tiles and flat tiles, and there are white marble carvings as railings on both sides. The tower is 21 meters high, the foundation is 24 meters deep, the tower is 45.6 meters wide, and the city wall connecting the Zhenhai Tower is 1.73 meters thick.
