Zhongde Temple on Gulangyu Island 鼓浪屿种德宫和花园别墅
Zhongde Temple on Gulangyu Island is located at No. 373, Neicu'ao Road. It is a temple with a strong southern Fujian style. It was first built in the Ming Dynasty and has been relocated and rebuilt several times in history. The current temple is a three-door, two-entry building, covering an area of about 600 square meters. It is shaded by ancient banyan trees, creating a quiet environment. Zhongde Temple enshrines Wu Tao, also known as "Baosheng Dadi", who is believed to bless the world with health and peace. Many traditional southern Fujian folk sacrificial rituals have been continuously held here, such as the tortoise-begging ceremony on the Lantern Festival and the worship of thousands of Buddhas on the 14th day of the second lunar month. It has witnessed the development and prosperity of Gulangyu Island for hundreds of years and is a precious historical and cultural "living fossil" of Gulangyu Island.
There are many garden villas on Gulangyu Island, among which the Huang Family Villa is a representative. It is located on Huangyan Road, Gulangyu Island, built by the patriotic overseas Chinese merchant Huang Yizhu from 1918 to 1923.
