When self-proclaimed Duke of Castellucia, Eicole Tamajo vacationed in Rockledge Florida sometime around 1881, he enjoyed the area so much that he purchased land from the Dummitt family in Dummitt Grove where the duke built a wooden castle, partially from timbers salvaged from a shipwreck called the Santa Cruz which was beached on the shores near Daytona. The mansion had 22 rooms in total and was constructed for his wife Jennie Anheuser. There is much debate as to the identity of Mrs. Anheuser, some claiming she was the daughter of the founder of Anheuser-Bush, Eberhard Anheuser. But this seems to be a myth.
Whoever she was, she and Eicole divorced just 5 years later in 1896. She remarried and died soon after. Eicole returned to Italy and died in 1892.
The house however, was then purchased by a judge and eventually it became a hunting cabin. Nasa purchased the property and house when they began building around the cape and eventually had it transported to Parrish Park in Titusville Florida in 1964. It remained at Parrish park until 1967 and there were plans to renovate the deteriorating castle and convert it into a museum. Unfortunately, vandals burned it to the ground.
