Fort Ann was constructed in December of 1837 and then abandoned by April 1838 in what is now within the borders of Brevard County, Florida. Soldiers were stationed there, along with numerous supplies for use in the Seminole Wars. It was positioned directly next to Haulover Canal (The Old Haulover) to ease and maintain access between the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River Lagoon. It may have saw unconfirmed use during the Civil War when allegedly Union troops used it as a camp. After the war, it was used as a homestead. It now exists on NASA property and is off limits, but little evidence of its existence remains. It is considered the only known fort from the Seminole war era established within Brevard borders.
