From Leo AI: David Bowie released two distinct visual works for his 1984 single "Blue Jean," both directed by Julien Temple. The primary release is the 21-minute short film Jazzin' for Blue Jean, which features Bowie in dual roles as the socially awkward Vic and the flamboyant rock star Screaming Lord Byron. A separate, standard-length music video was also produced, utilizing performance footage edited directly from the short film.

Release: 1984, created to promote the single "Blue Jean."
Director: Julien Temple; Story by: David Bowie.
Cast: David Bowie (as Vic and Screaming Lord Byron) and Louise Scott.
Award: Won the 1985 Grammy Award for Best Video, Short Form (later renamed Best Music Video).
Runtime: Approximately 20–21 minutes, depending on the PAL or NTSC home video release.
The narrative of the short film follows Vic, who tries to impress a girl by claiming to know her favorite rock star, Screaming Lord Byron. After securing a concert ticket for her, Vic attempts to sneak backstage to arrange a meeting. The film ends with a twist: the girl and Byron have already met in Peru, and she leaves with the star. In a meta moment, Bowie (as Vic) breaks the fourth wall to question the director about the plot change. The shorter music video, which runs just over three minutes, focuses solely on Byron's performance of "Blue Jean" and was later included in David Bowie – The Video Collection (1993).
