As the elevator door slides open on the top floor of the Shanghai Pudong Art Museum, the river breeze, carrying a moist breath, comes rushing over, and the outline of the entire city unfolds before your eyes. This rooftop, gently embraced by glass curtain walls, is an excellent viewing platform for overlooking both sides of the Huangpu River and a rare quiet corner amid the hustle and bustle of the city.
Cruise ships on the river glide slowly, trailing white wakes that spread like ink blots on rice paper, slicing the shimmering waves into tiny golden shards. On the opposite bank, the Bund's architectural complex stretches out its classical contours in the sunlight. Gothic spires and Baroque reliefs stand out sharply against the blue sky, with century-old bricks and stones seemingly murmuring tales of bygone days.
