Before Morantia | A VR360 Stereoscopic Film by Ragnar di Marzo

A monolith stands alone beneath a lunar sky. It does not explain. It calls.

In this meditative virtual odyssey, cinema’s cosmic lineage is revived through the lens of immersive space. Inspired by Kubrick and Tarkovsky, The Monolith invites the viewer to drift—beyond stars, into silence, and toward something shared.

The journey begins in lunar desolation. A black monolith stands like an unanswered question, drawing you through a sequence of dreamlike environments: planetary corridors, cosmic tableaux, and a moment of aching stillness—a Pietà suspended in the void, where classical sculpture meets virtual soul.

Figures emerge: a father and son—quiet presences of gravity and grace—offering glimpses of intimacy within the celestial vast. The experience flows not as a story, but as a nonlinear meditation, where emotion arises from space, light, and sonic depth.

Crafted entirely in Blender and sound-designed for resonance, this film is not a simulation, but a philosophical atmosphere. It asks not simply where we are—but what kind of beings we are when we reach, when we remember, when we stand before the unknown.

This is the third of five preludes. The Monolith slows the breath and deepens the gaze. It speaks not in plot, but in presence. In it, we begin to hear Morantia’s spiritual echo—where the infinite and the intimate are no longer separate.
