The â?â Motorist in VR â A Chase Through Time and Wonder
Before Morantia | A VR360 Stereoscopic Film by Ragnar di Marzo
A TâFord floats toward the moon. A glowing cinema flickers among the stars. A century-old chase begins againâthis time, all around you.
This immersive short film reimagines Walter Boothâs 1906 silent masterpiece The â?â Motorist as a living, spatial experience. What once flickered across a flat screen now unfolds around you in full VR360 stereoscopy: absurd, kinetic, whimsical, and full of wonder.
Seated in a retro-futurist theatre beneath a lunar sky, you watch the chase beginâthen suddenly inhabit it. The car escapes gravity, rockets through planets, and swerves through constellations. Early cinemaâs joy and inventiveness are reborn through virtual presence.
Crafted with Blender, Final Cut, and a handcrafted eye for vintage detail, this work is not a reenactment. It is a dialogue between epochsâbetween the magic lantern and the modern headset, between imagination then and now.
This is the second of five preludes. Where Romance lingered in dream and gesture, Reviving Cinemaâs Magic dances through time. It asks not only what cinema once wasâbut what it still can be when reawakened in motion, space, and light.
