WebVR: headsets and browsers support
WebVR brings VR videos and other content into your web browser. It works differently on different headsets. Currently we classify these as the following:
Tethered headsets like Oculus Rift S, HTC Vive Pro, WinMR (Odyssey+, Lenovo, Dell, ACER, HP), Valve Index - these have no native VR browser and could access WebVR content only from desktop web browser by entering VR mode. Flags are required to be set in Chrome:
(Flags have been changed a number of times already - with the upcoming WebXR release no flags will be required. Since September desktop Chrome browser can’t proceed into VR mode any longer).
All-in-One headsets like the Oculus Quest with closed eco-system with Oculus Browser and Firefox Reality. You can visit WebVR-powered sites in these browsers. These work really great with VR videos!
Mobile headsets like GearVR, DayDream, Android and iOs Cardboards. Android Cardboards have both mobile web browsers with VR support requiring flags to get into VR mode and native VR browsers. GearVR has native Oculus Browser, Firefox Reality and Samsung Internet. Since these headsets are no longer actively developed there's not much interest in these.
PSVR - no WebVR support yet. Hopefully it comes once WebXR becomes a standard.
