Ganesh Chaturthi is a Hindu festival celebrated in honor of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed God. The festival is observed for ten days, beginning with the installation of Ganesha idols in homes and temples. People offer worship, sweets, and other offerings to the deity.
On the tenth day, the idols are immersed in a water body, symbolizing the farewell of Lord Ganesha. The festival is celebrated with great fervor in various parts of India, particularly in Maharashtra, and involves cultural events, music, and feasting. Ganesh Chaturthi is a popular and colorful festival that brings people of different communities and regions together.
To make this festival more eco-friendly, a small homegrown brand from Mumbai is on a mission to create the best Ganesh idols from recycled paper and glue. This art form is popularly known as Paper Mache and his tram of artists painstakingly hand-paint and decorate them to have them ready for the festival!
