Siga: Spider lilies blooming at Genjihama beach on Lake Biwa, JAPAN
Genjihama Beach in Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture, on Lake Biwa (Japan's largest lake), is a habitat for clusters of red spider lilies.
The red flowers bloom from mid-September to early October.
Although the red spider lily, with its poisonous bulb, is associated with death in Japan, its beauty has captivated the Japanese people.
It appears in folktales, novels, comics, and other forms of literature as a flower associated with death.
