About the wreck:
The Kogyo Maru, an auxiliary supply ship carrying construction material at the time of her sinking, was launched in 1938. Her dimensions are 419ft/127.1m x 58.5ft/17.83m x 32.8ft/10m. Her missions took her around east and southeast Asia, and she supported the ill-fated Japanese attack on Midway. On 22 Sept. 1944, she sailed with the Okikawa Maru and other ships to Coron Bay in the hopes of avoiding American airstrikes. The Kogyo Maru was attacked by bombers from USS Intrepid (CV-11), USS Cabot (CVL-28), and USS Lexington (CV-16). She sank together with 35 of her crew, resting on her starboard side at a maximum depth of 34m/112ft and her port side at 22m/72ft.
