Are twerking and dramatic art about war compatible? We thought absolutely not... Until we saw this!
This is the individual performance The Ghost of Kyiv by Zarya on the International Twerk Championship (Ukrainian pre-selection), which took place on September 7, 2024 in Kyiv.
The ghost of Kyiv is an urban legend about a participant in the Russian-Ukrainian war, an ace Ukrainian pilot. He is described as a MIG-29 pilot who scored 6 aerial victories in the skies over Kiev in the first 30 hours of full-scale war.
The song was written by the MUR project, founded during a full-scale war by three boys from Kyiv and Donetsk. They create compositions based on the poems of Ukrainian writers, but with a modern sound and arrangement.
This song is based on the poem "I boarded the wrong plane" by Mykola Vingranovskyi (1965), a poet of the "Shooted Renaissance" period.
