Qibao Church

The Southern Qibao Temple was originally named the East Holy Hall and got its name because it was located to the east of Qibao Town. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, Xu Pan, a native of Qibao, raised funds to cast an iron Buddha statue of Tathagata. The common people believed that this iron Buddha statue flew here from the sky, so the Southern Qibao Temple was also commonly known as the "Iron Buddha Temple". Later, in order to echo the "Qibao Jiaosi Temple" opposite the riverbank, the East Holy Hall was renamed the Southern Qibao Temple. Generally, it adopts the architectural style of the Han and Tang dynasties, with a traditional Chinese architectural style. It has upturned eaves, bracket sets, carved beams and painted rafters, reflecting exquisite architectural craftsmanship. The glazed tiles on the roof are brightly colored and glisten under the sunlight.
