19 KAREN CONTEMPORARY ARTSPACE @ 19 Karen Ave, Mermaid Beach QLD 4218...A better exhibit that the permanent one at HOTA
https://19karen.com.au/
"The 19 Karen Gallery is divided into six interconnected exhibition spaces. Each one differs in size, providing several individual alcoves for clients to meander through. A recent addition, the large carpeted and air conditioned stockroom, was purpose built to house the overflow of art, with both walls and floors adorned with numerous works, all organised into artists for ease of reference. Private viewings are also arranged in this space ensuring that clientele are given ample time and are in maximum comfort to peruse and consider the perfect piece.
A favourite among the 19 Karen tribe is the private gallery, where Director Terri exhibits, just a taste of, her private collection. It is the jewel in the crown, unabashedly showcasing Terri’s love of art and acts as testament to her mission to:
‘CHOOSE ART YOU LOVE. BUY IT, SHOW IT, SHARE IT.’
The space holds many exhibitions throughout the year which will feature a single artist in one gallery with the remaining space taken up by a group exhibition. Alternatively, two or three concurrent solo shows will run, in either complimentary or opposing themes, issues, or aesthetics. Terri curates these shows with meticulous focus on the best outcome for the artist and the most visually spectacular show for her clients.
The gallery now represents 100 artists of various styles and genres from Urban and Street art to Pop art, Expressionism, Contemporary Figurative and Abstract to Realism, Surrealism and Pop Surrealism and anything in between – all enmeshed into one massive white structure and carefully inserted into a 700 square meter converted warehouse with high ceilings and haloed in light, not unlike a shrine.
At the forefront of 19 Karen is to provide the viewer with a sensory experience immediately upon entering the space. One that is full of colour and contrast, texture and tactility, culture and community, and above all cutting edge beauty.
19 Karen, including The Directors Private Gallery is open to the public during business hours. Our second Gallery is at the Sofitel Gold Coast Hotel in Broadbeach. It is currently closed to the general public due to Covid-19."
