Visit the Assin Manso Slave Market in Ghana's Central Region. The site, now known as the Ancestral River, is sacred ground.

Our Prisoner of War Ancestors, from as far north as Mali and Niger, were marched to this slave market by the river. Here is where they had their "Last Bath" on the Mother Continent. They were cleaned up (to look good for sale), sold, branded, then taken to the dungeons on the Coast to await transport on a European slave ship. The went from being POWs to chattel slaves at river. To return as a descendant is a healing journey--walking barefoot on the path that they walked, standing barefoot on the graves of those who didn't make it, wading in the water that bathed them before they were ripped away from home. We go back and remember.
