It seems that VR videos up to 6K are supported by WebXR. We have put multiple encodings together on this page so you can see for yourself. Simply enter https://deovr.com/encodings into the Oculus Browser address bar to check it out. Here you can compare H264, H265 and VP9 in 5K (5400x2700) and 6K (5800x2900) resolutions.
