New Feature: AI Passthrough transforms any suitable VR video into an AR passthrough experience, making characters appear right in your own space! Here’s everything you need to know.
What is AI Passthrough?
This new feature uses AI to remove backgrounds from VR scenes, blending them seamlessly into your real-world surroundings. Instead of just watching, you’ll feel immersed into the scene, like the action is unfolding right in front of you.
How to Use AI Passthrough
- Open the DeoVR app.
- Play any VR video with the Passthrough AI VR tag.
- Click the “AI Passthrough” button and watch the magic happen!
Important Notes
🔹 Beta Mode: AI Passthrough is still in development, so you may encounter some imperfections.
🔹 Currently Available in DeoVR App: Browser and mobile support are coming soon

What VR Content Works Best With AI PT?
VR videos starring people work best. Such as dancing or with a main character. It won’t work with nature or travel content as the AI system needs to recognise what elements to keep and what to remove.
Currently the DeoVR team decide which content should be processed by AI. The algorithm works quickly, usually taking around the length of the video to apply the PT mask.
