Located in Southeast China, Dahua Mountain is an astonishing Cretaceous geological site. Renowned as the "Zhangjiajie of Southeast China" due to its unique sandstone peak forest landscape that bears a striking resemblance to Zhangjiajie. During the Cretaceous period, approximately 145 to 66 million years ago, intense geological movements occurred here. The collision and compression of tectonic plates gradually uplifted the originally flat strata, forming the embryonic form of mountains. Subsequently, long - term weathering, fluvial erosion, and gravitational collapse, acting like the sculpting tools of nature, meticulously carved the sandstone strata. The harder parts of the sandstone remained, creating the diverse and spectacular peak forest scenery we see today. Some peaks are like sharp swords piercing the sky, while others resemble fairies standing gracefully. These peak forests are not only masterpieces of nature but also "living fossils" that record the Earth's history. By studying them, scientists can gain in - depth insights into the geological changes and ecological environment of the Cretaceous period, providing precious physical materials for research in fields such as geology and paleontology.
