Long before ferries and highways, this crossing was already used by Indigenous peoples and later by European explorers as early as the 16th century. Tadoussac is one of the oldest French settlements in North America, making this short crossing deeply rooted in history.

• One of the best places in the world to spot beluga whales — and occasionally larger whales
• Extremely strong and complex currents due to the meeting of the fjord and the river
