Osaka Shitennoji :
Founded by Prince Shotoku in 593, it was the first official temple of Buddhism in Japan, and has survived numerous natural disasters and war damage, and has survived to the present day.
It is a temple that transcends the boundaries of religious sects, with a Shitennoji-style temple structure that conveys the oldest temple structure in Japan, and a row of halls associated with various religious patriarchs, including Saicho, the great Buddhist missionary, Kukai, the great Buddhist priest Kobo, Honen, and Shinran Shonin.
The main temple building is a Showa-era reconstruction that reconstructed the style of the temple when it was founded, but the Rokujiki-reisando and Gansan-daishido, located on the north side of the temple grounds, were built in the early Edo period and are designated as National Important Cultural Properties of Japan.
Other attractions include the Treasure House, which houses many national treasures and important cultural properties, and the temple grounds, which are filled with stalls on the 21st (Daishikai) and 22nd (Taishikai) days of each month, as well as Buddhist services.
