Smartphone 3D photos don't need an expensive rig — they need precision. Here's why a $20 camera dolly fixes your side-by-side 3D shots of small objects, and whether the Tiiyee Camera Slider is worth it.

In a previous video I showed how to shoot side-by-side (SBS) 3D pictures of small objects using just your phone. The catch: both the left and right shots must be taken at the same height, with the camera shifted horizontally by only a few millimeters. Any vertical drift or rotation breaks the stereoscopic effect — and that's exactly what a tabletop dolly solves.
