Dainohara Forest Park is a forest park located in Aoba Ward, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. It was developed as part of the Meiji 100th anniversary project and opened in April 1973. Located in the Nanakita Hills, the gorge created by a tributary of the Nanakita River and the surrounding forest remain within the park. Ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Meiji era in 1968, the government established a plan to establish Meiji Centennial Parks at 10 locations across Japan. Sendai City was chosen as one of the locations. Aobayama and other locations were considered as locations for the memorial park, but Dainohara was ultimately chosen.
