Yohei Swamp is a swamp for irrigation water built by Suzuki Yohei, a feudal retainer of the Sendai domain, with his own funds. Yohei Swamp and the nearby Otsutsumi Park area are a small hill, and before the war, they were covered with a rich forest.
After the war, as the surrounding area became urbanized, the area around Yohei Swamp was spared from development and still retains the vestiges of the past. In winter, swans visit and you can even see them resting their wings.
