The history of Fuzhou Yongde Chamber of Commerce can be traced back to the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty. It was founded by the business groups from Yongchun and Dehua counties engaged in ceramics, timber, etc. in Fuzhou. Initially named "Yongde Guild Hall", it is located in Aochengli, Tiandang Community, Shangxiahang. "Aocheng" got its name because merchants from Yongchun and Dehua traded porcelain here, indicating its close connection with the business of the two places.
The chamber of commerce has gone through changes over the years. It was renovated during the Guangxu period and rebuilt in 1931. Its architecture combines Chinese and Western styles. The gate is supported by Roman-style stone pillars, and the third floor retains the Xieshan-style roof of the Ming and Qing Dynasties with overhanging eaves and upturned corners. Inscriptions on the stone tablets inside the chamber of commerce record the struggles of merchants in the past.
For a long time, it has been the activity center for the business associations, chambers of commerce, and fellow-townsman associations of Yongde. It undertakes the important tasks of connecting fellow-townsmen, improving the welfare of their hometowns, and promoting public welfare undertakings. For example, the Yongde Fellow-townsman Association established here during the Republic of China period regularly organized gatherings, introduced jobs and provided accommodation for fellow-t
