Grandiose Hintersee-Bayern

Hintersee is a lake in the Alps in the German federal state of Bavaria. It is located west of the town of Ramsau
and covers an area of 16 hectares
Several painters such as Carl Rottmann visited the lake to depict it in their paintings.
The lake's water surface is 789 meters above sea level. Hintersee is on average 7 meters deep and
the maximum depth is 18 meters. The catchment area is 41.7 km².
The lake is drained by the Sillersbach, which shortly after the outlet joins the Klausbach, and the watercourse is named
Ramsauer Ache from that point.
