Naruto Whirlpool Cruise | One of the World's Largest Whirlpool Sites | Tokushima, Japan
Experience the powerful Naruto Whirlpools in immersive VR180 3D aboard a sightseeing cruise through the Naruto Strait in Tokushima, Japan.
The Naruto Strait is known for one of the world's three strongest tidal currents, alongside the Strait of Messina in Italy and Seymour Narrows in Canada. During spring tides, seawater rushes through the narrow channel at speeds exceeding 20 km/h, creating some of the world's largest natural whirlpools.
This 20-minute VR180 3D video captures the highlights of a 60-minute sightseeing cruise, filmed during an autumn spring tide near the peak viewing time around low tide.
Watch for whirlpools appearing and disappearing across the water, a remarkable difference in sea levels of up to approximately 1.5 meters, and the impressive view as the boat passes beneath the Onaruto Bridge.
The English audio guide explains how these whirlpools form, the history of the bridge, and the surprising connection between the Naruto Whirlpools and the spiral-shaped fish cake found in Japanese ramen.
Filmed in Tokushima, Japan.
Presented in VR180 3D.
