El Anazu has constructed a flowing field of memory in this riverside art museum using tens of thousands of colonial-era soda and beer bottle caps. The global tour of "After the Red Moon" continues the epic of migration and return, viewed through the unique lens of this eastern riverside setting.
The most awe-inspiring piece is undoubtedly The Wall in the central exhibition hall. A torrent of black metal rises from the ground—its front side a frozen surge of anger, while the reverse conceals a Klimt-like radiance. Colorful bottle caps inlaid on a silver base burst forth like fireworks from an oppressed civilization suddenly set free. These fragments of metal, once detached from the colonial trade chain, have been forged into a rainbow bridge spanning suffering. As the Ghanaian artist’s soundscape fills the space, the cold hardness of metal and the softness of sound waves create a 奇妙 resonance, as if one could hear the ocean waves, street cries, and prayers sealed within the bottle caps.
