茶亭公园之荷塘月色
暮色浸软了茶亭公园的檐角，荷塘便浮在溶溶月色里。荷叶托着银辉，像承了半盏未饮的清酒，风过处，碎银簌簌滚进水里，惊起几尾鱼的唼喋。
荷花是浸在牛乳里的，瓣尖染着月光的白，却偏有两三朵贪睡，将影子斜斜印在碧波上，与岸边垂柳的疏影缠成一团。石桥卧在塘边，栏上石狮眯着眼，似在听荷叶的私语。偶有晚归的蜻蜓，翅尖扫过水面，搅得满塘月色晃了晃，又慢慢凝住，成了淌不动的玉。
Moonlit Lotus Pond in Chating Park
Dusk softens the eaves of Chating Park, and the lotus pond floats in the melting moonlight. Lotus leaves hold the silver radiance, like half a cup of undrunk clear wine. When the wind passes, broken silver tumbles into the water, startling the splashing of a few fish.
Lotus flowers are steeped in milk, their petal tips dyed with the whiteness of moonlight. Yet two or three are sleepy, their shadows slanting on the blue waves, tangling with the sparse shadows of willows by the bank. A stone bridge lies by the pond; the stone lions on the railings squint, as if listening to the whispers of lotus leaves. Occasionally, a dragonfly returning late sweeps the water with its wing tip, stirring the moonlight all over the pond. It sways, then slowly settles, becoming immobile jade.
