The Yamashiro Kaido is an ancient road in Japan that connected the historical regions of Yamashiro (modern-day southern Kyoto Prefecture) and Ōmi (modern-day Shiga Prefecture). It was one of the many important routes during the Edo period (1603–1868) and played a significant role in transportation, trade, and communication.

The road facilitated the movement of goods, such as rice, silk, and other commodities, between Kyoto and the eastern regions. It was also used by pilgrims traveling to temples and shrines in the area, including those around Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture.
