Cuopu Valley Nature Ecological Reserve is located in the Cuola District (Chaluo Township), the northern part of Batang County at the foot of Haizi Mountain in Ganzi Prefecture, western Sichuan. It borders Lituang County from Maoya Dam in the east, extends to the Yasu Mountain with an altitude of 4,860 meters in the west, is adjacent to Baiyu County from above Lieyi and Shaxi Townships to the Zha Jin Jia Bo Sacred Mountain in the south, covering an area of 900 square kilometers.
Here, the beautiful sceneries of western Sichuan Tibetan areas are concentrated, including snow-capped mountains, grasslands, forests, lakes and temples. The Cuopu Lake in Cuopu Valley is honored as "the First Sacred Lake in Khampa".
On November 30th, 2023, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration announced the "List of Important Habitats for Terrestrial Wild Animals (the First Batch)", and the important habitats for pheasants and reptiles in Cuopu Valley, Batang, Sichuan were selected.
