History and Outlook of Fuzhou South Park
Fuzhou South Park, originally built during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, was once the private garden "Geng Wang Zhuang" of King Jingnan Geng Jingzhong. After years of changes, it has become one of the oldest existing parks in Fuzhou. The park preserves Qing Dynasty garden relics such as "Sangzhe Hall" and "Lotus Pond", with ancient banyan trees flourishing, witnessing over 300 years of urban memory.
In modern times, South Park has served as a leisure place for people, carrying the collective memories of Fuzhou residents. In 2016, the park underwent large-scale renovation, restoring its classical garden style, adding folk custom exhibition areas and ecological wetlands, becoming an urban green lung integrating historical culture and natural landscapes.
Looking forward, South Park will further explore its historical connotation, restore the prosperity of "Geng Wang Zhuang" through digital exhibitions, and create immersive cultural experience projects. It will also optimize the ecological environment and improve leisure facilities, allowing this century-old garden to continue to thrive in the new era as a cultural landmark connecting Fuzhou's past and future.
