Mitsumine Shrine VR360 Walk | Chichibu Three Shrines Part 3 | Chichibu, Japan
Experience a VR360 walk through Mitsumine Shrine, a sacred mountain shrine deep in Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture.
This is Part 3, the final stop in the Chichibu Three Shrines journey.
Mitsumine Shrine is especially known for its unique wolf tradition. At the rare triple torii gate, visitors are welcomed not by the usual guardian dogs, but by wolves.
According to tradition, the legendary prince Yamato Takeru founded the shrine after climbing this mountain and enshrining Izanagi and Izanami. Wolves are said to have guided him safely through the mountains and have since been revered as sacred messengers of the gods.
The walk continues through the historic Zuishinmon Gate to the richly decorated worship hall and Okaruya Shrine, dedicated to the sacred wolf known as Okuchi Magami.
The journey ends at a statue of Yamato Takeru surrounded by mountain mist. Among some visitors, mist at Mitsumine is said to be a sign of welcome from the gods or their sacred messengers.
Part 1 visits Hodosan Shrine, and Part 2 explores the celebrated carvings of Chichibu Shrine.
