"Picture this: My wife and I are living the good life aboard the Oasis of the Seas. The bar’s buzzing, the ocean’s sparkling, and we’re ready for a little liquid luxury. We sidle up to the counter, and the bartender—a woman with a smile so bright it could guide the ship at night—greets us like we’re old friends.
‘What’ll it be?’ she asks.
I order something simple, and then it’s my wife’s turn. She gives the bartender her drink of choice, and the bartender nods like my wife’s just asked for a drink that should come with a crown.
A few minutes later, she slides my drink over—straightforward, no frills. Then she turns to my wife with a flourish and presents her cocktail like it’s the pièce de résistance. There’s a tiny umbrella, a fruit skewer that looks like a tropical centerpiece, and even a sprinkle of edible glitter.
‘For the queen,’ she says with a wink.
I couldn’t help but laugh. Here I am with my bare-bones drink, and my wife’s got a cocktail that’s basically an art installation.
‘Guess we know who’s the VIP here,’ I said.
The bartender leans in with a knowing grin. ‘She always is,’ she replies.
Touché, bartender. Touché. 🍹🌊"
