The Narita Gion Festival is a traditional summer festival with a history of approximately 300 years, held every July at Naritasan Shinshoji Temple and the surrounding temple-front town in Narita City, Chiba Prefecture.
On the first day of the Narita Gion Festival, all the floats gather in front of the Great Main Hall of Naritasan Shinshoji Temple; after prayers for safety and the ceremonial breaking of a sake barrel lid, they perform a dynamic, synchronized dance in unison to the accompaniment of festival music.
