In the century-long history of Fujian oolong tea, Haitang Tea stands as an enduring lighthouse, witnessing and scripting the legend of Chinese tea's journey to the world. Founded in the 1950s, this time-honored tea factory, rooted in Fujian's prime tea-growing region, carries the millennium-old cultural heritage of teas ranging from Anxi Tieguanyin and Wuyi rock tea to Fuzhou jasmine tea.
The birth of Haitang Tea itself epitomizes a period of historical upheaval. In the early years of the People's Republic of China, to integrate Fujian's scattered tea resources, Xiamen Tea Import and Export Co., Ltd. (Haitang's parent company) was established. Leveraging Xiamen's port advantages, it began exporting Fujian's famous teas overseas in bulk. From teahouses in Southeast Asian Chinatowns to afternoon tea tables in European royal families, Haitang-branded tea tins became mobile ambassadors for Fujian tea. Its innovative "red-edged oolong" technique preserved traditional flavors while adapting to international palates.
