The Akasaka Hikawa Festival is a traditional festival that dates back to the Edo period and is held every September at Akasaka Hikawa Shrine in Minato Ward, Tokyo.
It is a historic festival that is said to be second in size to the Tenka Festival in Edo, and is held every three years with three main pillars: the shrine mikoshi, the neighborhood mikoshi federation, and the Edo-style floats.
The Shinko Festival in Reiwa 8 (2026) was a milestone year in which the Miya Mikoshi was the main focus (10th anniversary of the restoration and new construction), and the Miya Mikoshi, which had celebrated its 10th anniversary since its restoration, and two Edo-style floats (Monkey Minamoto no Yoritomo) were paraded together as a group.
