Surin is a province in northeastern Thailand, also known as Isan. It is particularly famous for its close relationship with elephants, and is home to the annual Surin Elephant Round-up, a celebrated festival held in November. The area is also known for its beautiful silk, Khmer ruins, and a rich blend of Thai and Khmer cultures.
