From Leo AI: The music video for Radiohead's song "Just," released in August 1995, was directed by Jamie Thraves and filmed near Liverpool Street Station in London. The video intercuts footage of the band performing in an apartment with a narrative about a middle-aged man (played by Dorian Lough) who lies down in the middle of the pavement.
Passersby, including a pedestrian and a police officer, ask the man why he is lying on the ground. He refuses to explain, stating, "You don't want to know, please believe me."
After much pressure, the man agrees to reveal the reason, warning, "God forgive me... and God help us all." As he speaks, the subtitles disappear, leaving the audience in the dark.
The camera pulls back to reveal that the entire crowd has also collapsed onto the pavement, mirroring the man.
Jamie Thraves has consistently refused to reveal what the man says, stating that telling the audience "would deaden the impact" and might even make them want to lie down in the road themselves.
Theories: Fans and critics have speculated for decades that the secret is a profound philosophical truth, a nihilistic statement, or simply that the man says nothing at all. The band has confirmed the man does speak, but the specific words remain one of the most famous mysteries in music video history.
