Exploring the Caves of Laos
The caves in Southeast Asia are stunning in both size and design. The natural occurrence of a combination of ancient limestone deposits, up to 450 million years old, and heavy monsoon rains create perfect conditions for cave-making. There are a full 126km of known caving routes, with many more unexplored. The Son Doong Cave on the border of Laos and Vietnam is so big that it has its own weather system and could hold an entire city block from Manhattan, including 40-story skyscrapers.
