Shakira - Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) (2010)

From Leo AI: The music video for Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), performed by Shakira featuring the South African band Freshlyground, was directed by Marcus Raboy. Premiering on June 6, 2010, it served as the official anthem for the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa. The video holds the distinction of being the first-ever music video by Sony Music to be released in 3D format.
Conceptualized by Shakira and Antonio Navas of Ogilvy & Mather, the visual narrative was designed to "take the viewer on a trip around the world, ending in Africa." Filmed in Los Angeles in late April 2010, the video interpolates archival footage of historic football moments, including Roberto Baggio's missed penalty in the 1994 World Cup Final.
The video features a vibrant cast including Shakira, the members of Freshlyground (with lead singer Zolani Mahola and violinist Kyla-Rose Smith prominently featured), and a large group of dancers and children. A defining element of the video is the appearance of several world-renowned footballers, who appear alongside the artists. The cast includes:
Lionel Messi
Cristiano Ronaldo
Gerard Piqué (whom Shakira met during the filming, leading to a long-term relationship)
Dani Alves
Rafael Marquez
Idriss Carlos Kameni
