the aesthetic of ruins

The broken walls and ruins stand by the water's edge, like bones gnawed by time, yet somehow reanimated by nature's touch and clever ingenuity.




The entire wall is overrun with ivy. Leaves in shades of deep and light green creep along the weathered brick crevices; when the wind blows, waves of foliage ripple along the wall's ridge, as if the old factory building is breathing softly. The dilapidated wall resembles a weathered elder, while the Lego bricks embedded in its cracks are like dancing color sprites. The mottled bricks and vibrant blocks collide in time, sparking wonderful artistic flames.




This broken wall should have been desolate — no roof to shield it from rain, no doors or windows to block the wind. Yet, with the ivy covering its surface and scattered Lego pieces, it has become the most charming sight. New poetry grows from the bones of old industry; hard bricks and soft greenery, cold steel and colorful blocks, reach a marvelous reconciliation by the water.
