Sakura
In Hongō, Ōuda, Uda City, Nara Prefecture, there is a legend that Gotō Matabei, a samurai warrior who was active during the Sengoku period, fled to this area, became a monk, and spent the rest of his life here. This weeping cherry tree, located on the site of the Gotō family's residence, is affectionately known locally as "Matabei Cherry Tree."

Estimated to be 300 years old, it is a magnificent cherry tree with a trunk circumference of approximately 3 meters and a height of approximately 13 meters.

At the peak of its bloom in early April, it attracts many visitors enjoying the cherry blossoms.
