I don't think my presentation here does justice to the scale of this telescope. 3 foot diameter tube 57 feet long 75 foot dome weighing 100 tons, and that rotates of course out of view is the circular elevating floor, 61 feet in diameter, 25 tons, with a travel of about 16 or 17 feet vertically, to compensate for the difference in eyepiece height when the telescope is at different angles [The difference in floor height in photos online caused me some serious confusion when researching this. Elevator.
