This Neo-Baroque structure was nearly destroyed after WWII. For decades before its restoration, people gathered within its ruins, praying under the open sky. Imagine that sight: walls without a roof and the heavens as the only ceiling. This connection to the sky became so profound that during the modern reconstruction of the interior, it was decided not to break it. This led to the creation of the magnificent glass roof that you can now admire in full 360°.
