Sendai Akiu Tanabata Exhibition 2025 | Handmade Summer Decorations & Wishes in Japan

Step into the peaceful Akiu area of Sendai, Japan, and experience the Sendai・Akiu Tanabata Exhibition 2025 (せんだい・あきう七夕展).
Held at the Akiu Sato Center every summer, this exhibition features over 300 handmade Tanabata decorations, created by local children, seniors, and artisans.

From colorful streamers and origami cranes to bamboo branches filled with handwritten wishes, the exhibition offers a quiet and heartwarming way to enjoy the Tanabata season in Japan. Visitors can also join in by writing their own wishes on a tanzaku strip and hanging it among the decorations.
