Day 5. Setagaya City
Located in the suburb of Tokyo, is a temple that is famous for the Maneki-neko (beckoning cat). The beckoning cat is often seen in Asian stores to bring fortune 招財貓. His origin is actually Japanese and he brings good luck to the owner.
The story goes, One day, when Lord Naotaka was walking pass Gotoku-ji temple, a cat beckoned him in with a waving paw. When he went to see the cat, he was saved from a storm. To thank the cat, he made the temple his family temple.
Gotokuji Temple is located in the suburb, away from the hustle and bustle of the Tokyo. a nice escape to nature.
