The Yamagiri Maru is a 6,438-ton Japanese passenger-cargo ship built in 1938 and converted into a military transport in 1941. Sunk in Truk Lagoon (Chuuk) on February 18, 1944, during Operation Hailstone by US dive bombers, she now rests on her port side in 33–34 meters of water.

Wreck Location & Orientation: She lies on her port side, with the wreck starting at a depth of 50 to 110 feet (approx. 15-34 meters).
Cargo & Artifacts: The No. 5 hold is famous for containing large

armor-piercing shells, originally meant for the battleships Yamato and Musashi. Other items include a steamroller in the hold, engine room machinery, and intact guns on the bow and stern.
Dive Experience: It is a popular dive site, known for vibrant coral growth, a large hole on the starboard side from an explosion, and reachable, yet complex, engine room access.
History: Before sinking, she was heavily damaged by the USS Drum in August 1943
