Hidden within Kirkcudbright Bay lies one of the most intriguing stretches of Scotland's southwest coastline.




In this episode of Scotland's Entire Coastline – From a Drone's Eye View, I explore St Mary's Isle from above, following the shoreline, tidal flats, woodland and sheltered waters that make this corner of Dumfries and Galloway so distinctive.




What appears from the ground to be a simple wooded peninsula reveals a very different story when viewed from the air. Surrounded by the shifting tides of Kirkcudbright Bay and steeped in centuries of local history, St Mary's Isle occupies a unique position within one of Scotland's most beautiful natural harbours.




Filmed using a DJI Mavic 3 and a DJI Mini 3 Pro as part of my ongoing mission to capture Scotland's entire mainland coastline from the air, one section at a time.
