Theme- Jiyon Kathi or Wand of Life
The magical life restoring Wand of Bengal Folklore is used as a metaphor by Salt Lake's BC block organisers as a metaphor for awakening the consiousness of people today who have forgotten that life stems from nature. Bamboo sticks, dried branches, earth and straw have been used in the installation as a way to remind us of our dependence on the natural world. The theme extolls that the true magic wand lies in our wisdom and intelligence to protect nature.
Durga Puja is a UNESCO recognised cultural event celebrated in the City of Joy, Kolkata. The entire city becomes an elaborate showcase of culture, craftsmanship, artistic vision and multiple art forms, each a unique homage to the Goddess.
This is Virtualism's attempt at virtually capturing the spirit of this festival which transforms our streets and lanes into a city wide carnival.
